What Is ISO 50001?
What is ISO 50001?
ISO 50001 was created in June of 2011 by the International Organization for Standardization as an energy management system to help business of any size establish, implement, maintain, and improve their energy management system. The idea behind ISO 50001 is to establish a standard for organizations to create a system and processes to finding areas where energy use can be reduced. Not only will implementing this standard benefit environmental and climate protection, but also help companies realize untapped energy efficiency potential. This ultimately will help companies benefit from cost savings they otherwise would not have utilized.
The basic structure of ISO 50001 includes 4 interconnecting pillars: Plan, Do, Check, and Act.
