Fanshawe Uses Clean Air WeldStations To Help With Workforce Development

With manufacturing workforce needs in high demand, Fanshaw College has responded to the need by opening a state-of-the-art welding lab at their St. Thomas Campus.  Campus chairman Ross Flair noted, “It (the welding program) continues this campus’s history of responding to what’s happening in the workplace.  We’re pleased to have this open and look forward to receiving a new class in January.”  This lab will be used by a variety of users, from welding majors, to industrial maintenance mechanics, to high school students, to artistic welders.

Fanshaw purchased 10 WeldStation LEAF dual welding booths from Clean Air America to accommodate 20 students.  These welding booths are state-of-the-art LEAF (Low Energy Air Filtration) booths that use a combination of an Economizer for automatic start/stop and a VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) to the booth consume up to 70% less energy.  With no ducting needed, these WeldStation welding booth are completely self-contained, meaning all fumes are passed through one of 4 filters before returning to the facility.  When talking about the booths, Flair said, “All the pollutants are caught in the filter, and then vents out the cleaner air.  So there’s no external venting of gasses into the environment or into the neighborhood.”
