April 2, 2014

Now that we have taken a look at Salina Tech and Tenneessee College of Applied Technology, out next location is Hillsborough Community College in Florida.  With with 11 campuses in and around the Tampa area, Hillsborough Community College has become one big names in welding training in Florida.   With rennovations and a new campus coming up, Hillsborough decided to strive to achieve LEED certification.  The Clean Air WeldStation LEAF welding booths were designed to keep energy effeciency in mind.

Hillsborough Community College

When Hillsborough CC embarked on building a new campus, they had planned to create a campus that would meet the standards set forth by the United States’ Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design standards.  After receiving the certification, Hillsborough CC became the first “green” campus in Florida.  They were able to achieve this certification with the help of Clean Air America and the WeldStation LEAF (Low Energy Air Filtration) welding booths.  With features such as a VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) for soft start and economizer for automatic start/stop, the Clean Air WeldStation LEAF was able to cut down on the amount of energy used by the welding lab helping to achieve the LEED standards. Because of their innovative design, these systems are one of the most energy efficient on the market allowing you, the customer, to save on multiple costs (including heating and makeup air).
