Manufacturing Firm Completes Expansion
Lockport, NY – Local and state leaders gathered Thursday with President and CEO of Diversified Manufacturing to celebrate the completion of the Ohio Street metal fabrication facility expansion.
The $5 million expansion consisted of a 45,000-square-foot addition and equipment upgrades. Keeping 150 people employed, the manufacturing facility is now 120,000 square feet.
Making this all possible was the major supporter, New York Power Authority. They contributed $450,000 through the Western New York Power Proceeds Program. ”There were opportunities to go elsewhere, but it’s efficient to have everything under one roof,” Costello said. “It was too expensive running the other facility.”
Costello thanked not only the power authority for their assistance but the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency, Greater Lockport Development Corp., Empire State Development Corp. and M&T Bank for their help.
Assistance seemed to come from numerous places. They received an $88,000 development grant from NYSEG and Rochester Gas for electric infrastructure improvements. Diversified got a 15 year tax abatement from the county IDA as well.
”I can’t think of anything more important to the City of Lockport than job retention,” said Lockport Mayor Anne E. McCaffrey. “Nothing is more important to me than business development and keeping jobs in Lockport.”
