Technical College Receives More Then $800,000 For Welding Program

July 28, 2014

Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College in Superior received more than $800,000 from a grant. This will help eliminate nearly 50 students from the wait list in the college's quickly growing welding program. In March Governor Walker signed into law his "Blueprint for Prosperity" initiative, providing more than $35,000,000 in funding to expand the DWD operated Wisconsin Fast Forward program, giving schools like WITC greater opportunities. The grant won't only help the school but also employers throughout the Twin Ports."We have a lot of good employers in the area and getting our workforce the skills they need to contribute to those employers is something that really helps with our established employers, in terms of meeting their expansion or continuation requirements," said John Will, incoming president of WITC.
