Toyota Is Expanding Indiana Plant
Toyota will again be expanding its southwestern Indiana assembly plant. The $100 million expansion will add 300 jobs by 2016 and allow it to boost production of the Highlander midsize sport utility vehicle. About 90,000 Highlanders were sold this year from January through July. The sales of the SUV has increased 16 percent over the same period the previous year. With the latest expansion Toyota will have invested $4 billion and increase it’s employment at the plant to about 5,000 people.
