Clean Air ZeroSmoke™
Oil Smoke Collectors
The Clean Air ZeroSmoke™ coalescing fiber bed technology was designed to overcome inherent design flaws with competitive technologies. Current conventional technologies of mist and smoke collection systems are not designed to handle modern CNC machining process demands with high-pressure coolant delivery, sub-micronic particulate generation, and realistic maintenance demands. The Clean Air ZeroSmoke™ is an application specific solution that can overcome these deficiencies.
The Clean Air ZeroSmoke™ Series includes a wide range of coalescing fiber bed filter systems designed for coolant mist, oil mist, and oil smoke applications.
Clean Air ZeroSmoke™ Development
The Clean Air ZeroSmoke™ coalescing fiber bed mist and smoke technology was developed to overcome the inherent flaws with current mist and smoke collection equipment.
The advanced technology coalescing fiber bed filtration technology is designed to collect mist and smoke aerosols with maximum collection efficiency, minimal maintenance, and maximum reclaim of coolant or oils through a self-draining design. The coalescing fiber beds create a wicking layer through a unique process that allows the fiber beds to keep the collected aerosol in a liquid state preventing evaporation and or bypass. This technology allows for draining with the collector online and offline.
Packaged units include multiple coalescing fiber bed filters in series to allow for 99.97% collection efficiency, on particulate sub-micronic, prior to the final HEPA filter stage. The HEPA filter is a standard H13 HEPA filter with 99.997% collection efficiency on particulate 0.3 micron. Due to the wicking and free draining effect of the fiber bed filters, airflow is maintained throughout operation. The ZeroMist™ and ZeroSmoke™ units are also rated for airflow delivery at maximum saturation ensuring maximum efficiency.
The vertical and modular design allows for machine tool mounted units, central units for multiple machines, and larger central systems that can operate for an entire machining line. Packaged units include direct drive dynamically balanced backward incline blower wheels with AMCA rated performance and energy efficient motors that are VFD duty rated.
Custom control panel options include UL/CSA rated magnetic IEC/NEMA motor starter packages, VFD Smart Panels™ and optional PLC packages that allow for complete monitoring of voltage, amperage, filter conditions, alarm conditions, and additional parameters.
Clean Air ZeroSmoke™
Clean Air ZeroSmoke™ captures the oily air at the source, filtering it out at 99.995% efficiency before releasing crystal clean, filtered air back into the facility. Utilizing the most advanced filters on the market, the technology used by the Clean Air ZeroSmoke™ units allows for the longest filter life on the market by using deep fiber bed filters that allow the oil to coalesce and drain off the filter allowing it to be reused or disposed of.
The Clean Air ZeroSmoke™ mist collection system is designed for light to moderate inlet concentrations from 20-150 mg/m3. Packaged units are available from 600 to 1,800 CFM with direct drive centrifugal fan packages. Larger centralized systems are available that will require external centrifugal fans. Each filter stage includes differential pressure gauges to monitor filter conditions. Filters are mounted in each filter stage with positive mounting filter jacks to compress filter gaskets securely to eliminate any potential bypass to the final safety HEPA filter. Integral pre-filter housings allow for the addition of a pre-filter stage for protection of fiber bed filters with grinding swarf, solids, and sticky residue that would blind the first stage fiber bed filter.
Why the Clean Air ZeroSmoke™?
- Designed for light to moderate inlet concentrations from 20-150 mg/m3
- Packaged units available from 600 to 1,800 CFM with direct-drive centrifugal fan packages
- Larger systems available to meet specific larger CFM requirements
- Each filter stage includes differential pressure gauges to monitor filter conditions
- Filters are mounted in each filter stage with positive mounting filter jacks to compress filter gaskets securely, eliminating any potential bypass to the final safety HEPA filter
- Integral pre-filter housings allow for the addition of a pre-filter stage for protection of fiber bed filters with grinding swarf, solids, and sticky residue that would blind the first stage fiber bed filter
Health and Safety
Health and safety issues are being taken very seriously by a growing number of companies as OSHA, International, and industry standards increase. Many large US manufacturers are planning ahead and adopting European exposure limits as a global standard for their entire company and are exceeding OSHA Standards. To meet these standards companies must implement a highly efficient oil mist and oil smoke filtration system to filter out the particles. The exposure limits these companies are targeting range from .02 – 1 mg/m3 depending on company policy, well below the 5 mg/m3 standard set by OSHA. Older mist collector technology simply cannot provide these higher requirements and need a high tech and high efficiency unit to get reach these exposure limits.
