PIE Innovation Center
Overview
The Partnerships in Industry and Education (PIE) Innovation Center is a regional educational facility that addresses the growing need to better prepare students for postsecondary careers and workforce opportunities. This unprecedented innovative Center, the first of its kind in Tennessee, is the former American Uniform plant on Parker Street in Cleveland, TN. By having business, industry, secondary/post-secondary educational opportunities, and nonprofit services under one roof, students are provided with the tools, education, and life skills needed to succeed.
Partnerships with TCAT-Athens, Cleveland State Community College, and Chattanooga State Technical Community College will provide students with dual credit, dual enrollment, industry certification, and a seamless transition into the workforce.
Problem
Design of the welding lab was challenging. Further complicating matters, the welding lab is located on the second floor of the main building. Many booth and filtration systems were considered, with the best engineered solution coming from Clean Air Industries.
Solution
The Clean Air Industries WeldStation offered the perfect solution for the needs of the facility. The PIE welding lab features 25 welding booths. The WeldStations keep their welding lab clean, and their students safe from harmful weld smoke.
