Southeastern Hose, a customer of NexAir – an authorized Clean Air Industries distributor, required a reliable solution to address airborne weld fumes generated during carbon and stainless steel welding. The primary concern was maintaining a clean production environment and controlling hazardous contaminants, including weld smoke and hexavalent chromium.
Clean Air Industries was consulted to evaluate the facility and recommend a suitable air filtration system.
After consultation with Southeastern Hose, it was determined that an ambient ducted push-pull system would be the most effective solution. The facility measured 35 feet x 60 feet x 15 feet, totaling 31,500 cubic feet of air volume.
To maintain a clean environment, Clean Air Industries recommended a full air exchange every 3 minutes, requiring a total airflow capacity of 10,500 CFM.
Clean Air Industries designed and proposed a ducted push-pull system that would:
System Specifications:
The Amtech ATH 3-18 Horizontal Cartridge Dust Collector includes an automatic filter cleaning system that pulses the filters as they begin to load, promoting longer filter life and reduced maintenance.
Additionally, a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) was included in the electrical panel. The VFD allows for a soft motor start and adjusts motor speed as filters load, ensuring consistent airflow throughout the filter life cycle.
Clean Air Industries delivered a customized, ambient air filtration solution to support NexAir and Southeastern Hose in managing weld fume emissions. The push-pull configuration and Amtech ATH 3-18 Horizontal Cartridge Dust Collector provide effective air turnover and contaminant removal, while minimizing maintenance and ensuring consistent performance over time.
