Health and Safety

Health and safety issues are being taken very seriously by a growing number of companies as OSHA, International, and industry standards increase. Many large US manufacturers are planning ahead and adopting European exposure limits as a global standard for their entire company and are exceeding OSHA Standards. To meet these standards companies must implement a highly efficient dust and fume filtration system to filter out the harmful particulate.  The exposure limits these companies are targeting range from .02 – 1 mg/m3 depending on company policy, well below the 5 mg/m3 standard set by OSHA.

Frequently Asked Questions

The primary benefit that you’ll get with our fume extractors is our premium quality filter. Thanks to our superior capture system, you can count on it to catch dust and weld fumes without a hitch.

It’s also super easy to install. While other systems can be a pain to fit into your welding booth, ours comes with a built-in wall mount bracket that makes setup quick and simple. Want even more flexibility? You can upgrade with an optional 8-foot floor stand too.

Another big plus – this unit is made of steel, not plastic. That means it’s tough, long-lasting, and built to handle real work. Combined with a powerful motor, it’s a reliable, cost-effective solution for keeping your workspace safe and clean.

And if you’re just looking to vent air without filtering, we’ve got an exhaust-only version too. Either way, it’s a solid step toward meeting OSHA standards with gear you can trust.
If you’re coughing up black mucus or noticing black residue in your nose after welding, that’s your body sending a pretty clear message. Not sure? Show someone your handkerchief – if their reaction doesn’t say it all, here’s the answer: YES, you need fume extraction!

Welding creates toxic fumes that can lead to serious, long-term health issues. But don’t worry – you don’t have to stop welding. You just need the right equipment to keep the air clean and your lungs safe.

Some folks try building their own DIY fume extractors, and while that might work for a few, it’s often not enough. Without proper filtration or airflow design, those setups can fall short. That’s why a professionally built unit makes all the difference.

Our wall-mounted fume extractor is ideal for welders who want cleaner air, fewer health concerns, and a safer, more breathable workspace.

Even if you’re working in a tight space and haven’t thought much about air filtration, your health says it’s time to reconsider. Investing in clean air is never wasted.
This Fume Dog weld fume extractor works with TIG, MIG, and stick welding, and is best suited for up to two shifts per day.

There are multiple factors to consider when determining how frequently you will need to replace your filters, such as:
• Hours of usage per day
• The type of material you’re working with. For example, oil-coated metal will generate thicker fume and smoke than metals that are not oil-coated, ultimately impacting the lifespan of your filters.

It is typically recommended that you inspect your filters at least every 4-6 months.
